Share Your Story

Sharing personal stories is our way of promoting the thoughts and experiences of those who have been exposed to lead.

When making a submission you may choose to use your full name, your first name and last initial, or a pseudonym. We respect your privacy.

Written Submissions Should…

be roughly 100-1000 words long.
be written in the first person, drawing on your experience with lead exposure.
explain why you support widespread lead remediation.
discuss the changes you wish to see related to government oversight.
please consider including a photo (not required); photos help draw attention and give authenticity to your story.

While you may find it helpful to discuss or allude to the experiences of others, please do not provide anyone’s identifying details, and focus on sharing centering writing on your own story.

Prompts for Written Submissions

When, where, and how were you (or your child, family member, etc.) exposed to lead?
How did you find out about the exposure?
Were you aware of the dangers of lead prior to exposure?
Do you think others in your community are know about their risk of lead exposure?
How has lead exposure affected your quality of life (or a family member’s quality of life)
Were any government agencies or offices involved (at any level of government)?
What do you feel should be done so that others don’t experience what you experienced?
Have you been involved in advocating for legislative change?

These prompts are designed to help you as you draft your submission. You do not have to respond to all of them or any of them.
